Knockbreda has become a regular hub and drop off point for Barnabas Fund’s international Food Gives project. Barnabas sends dried foodstuffs to needy countries (e.g. Ukraine), using local churches to distribute the gifts. If you would like to contribute, you can drop off dried food at the hall on Tuesday or Saturday mornings – or speak to Robert McAvoy to arrange a time.
Please send dry food only (not tins) and ensure the items do not contain liquid, oil or animal products. Chick peas (dried), lentils (dried), rice, salt (bags not tubes), sugar, other pulses. We can receive bag sizes up to 2kg. Larger packets of food are difficult to repack for shipping. Please ensure that the “best before date” is at least 10 months ahead. Any food we receive that does not have a long enough expiry date (due to unforeseen circumstances) will not be wasted, but will be shared within the local community, including charities such as Foodbank.
