My name is Stuart Balmer and I’m delighted to be starting at Knockbreda this month. I recently married Steph, who works as a midwife in the Ulster Hospital while continuing her studies at Queen’s University. I grew up in the local area and attended secondary school and university in Belfast. After graduating I trained a secondary school teacher and taught RE in England for two years before returning to NI. From January 2022 I will begin part-time study at the Church of Ireland Theological Institute as I continue to discern God’s call into gospel ministry.
When I gave my life to Christ at the age of 17, I began to attend a local parish church where the Bible was faithfully taught each week. This was the most formative experience in my Christian life. I passionately believe that God grows disciples when we sit under His word and allow it to shape us as a community and as individuals. Steph and I look forward to getting to know you in the coming months and pray that it would be a time when we would indeed know that “the Lord is good! His mercy endures forever.”
