Dear partners and friends in mission,
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” Psalm 119:105
We started this year with a week of holiday for we had so much things going on during the holiday and we really needed a week off before this year’s programme starts. Now we are fully rested and can take on the new year.
We are hoping that 2018 will be a year about returning to the scriptures and prayer. We hope we can this year start to train young leaders in expository preaching as we have a group of potential leaders growing. We will continue to train in how to lead a bible study and organising small groups. We are also looking to see if we can partner with other like minded churches to share training, experience and resources.
Last year we ended our activities with a Sunday family Christmas service. It was at an awkward time in the afternoon and we did not know if people would come but they did. This time we had members bringing their non Christian parents and friends which is a good sign that people feel safe bringing people to the church.
The sad thing was that a lot of children were sick as a virus was spreading in Åkersberga so the children’s choir was half of its size, but these things happen. The message shared by Richard (one of our leaders and preachers in the church) was spot on and challenging our idea of what the Christmas really is about.
The preaching in the church will be to finish most of Mark until Easter. The Lord’s prayer and Bible Overview will be the themes in the bible study groups. Also we will try to start a new Christianity Explored in Uppsala this time, as we last year did in Stockholm and Åkersberga.
Prayer Points:
- Pray for 2018 and our ministry and for Emmaus church
- Pray for the bible study groups
- Pray for the vision of training young potential leaders in expository preaching and leading bible studies and small groups
- Pray for our networking to find like minded churches and sharing training, experience and resources
Yours in Christ,
Chris & Lotta
